Harley Davidson

The first Harley didn’t appear until 1903 but in 1901 William Harley drew up plans to put an engine on a pedal bike and over the next two years he and his friend Arthur Davidson put the ideas into practice, unfortunately the engine didn’t have enough power to go over the hills in Milwaukee and so they returned to the drawing board,
By the end of 1903 they managed to produce a prototype that would become the Milwaukee Merkel, it completed in its first race in September 1904
This was the start of one of the biggest motorbike companies in the world
